The Indianapolis Colts first game at the RCA Dome was on September 2, 1984. The RCA Dome was very similar to the Metrodome in Minneapolis. The roof of the stadium consisted of Teflon coated fiberglass.

Two tiers of 60,000 seats circled the entire Astroturf playing field. In 1994, RCA bought the naming rights to the stadium, thus it was renamed the RCA Dome. The RCA Dome was not built primarily for football, but for conventions and trade shows. Other than being the home of the Colts, the RCA Dome hosted concerts, large banquets, religious assemblies and various sporting events including the NCAA Final Four. Even before people walked in for NFL games, the place drew glowing reviews for concerts. Fans experienced major traffic problems getting to the stadium, located in Paradise, but it's worth it once you step inside. With 65,000 seats, the Wynn Field Club and an array of restaurants (BBQ Mexicana, Guy Fieri's Tailgate Kitchen and Bar, Pizza Rock) and so much more, Allegiant Stadium needs to be on bucket lists. Of course, it doesn't help that they built it in Santa Clara to make the travel experience worse for fans. Did we mention that they spent over $1 billion on this place and failed to protect fans from the glaring sun? If you can look past the inconvenient location, the sun in your eyes and the costly tickets, everything else is really nice.

In April 2006, Jackson County, Missouri taxpayers approved a 3/8 cent sales tax, which raised approximately $212.5 million for improvements at the facility. Additionally, the state of Missouri provided $37.5 million and the Hunt family contributed $125 million to the project. The renovations began in January 2007 and were completed in time for the start of the 2010 season.

The improvements helped GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium maintain its longstanding status as one of the top venues for fans to experience the excitement of collegiate or NFL football. The renovation included the construction of the Ford Fan Zone on top of the upper deck on the south side of the stadium. This level included a new press box, premium seats and luxury suites. The expansion added 500,000 square feet to the footprint and 50% more concession stands and 80% more restrooms. FirstEnergy Stadium would benefit from a few renovations and the fans deserve it with this team suddenly becoming an AFC power. If some upgrades are made, with the atmosphere this fan base creates, this place would rise up the NFL stadium rankings just as fast as the Browns climbed NFL power rankings.

There are some nice things about it, like the view of downtown, but it has a lot of faults. Notably, fans are made to feel like they're on an aircraft carrier by having to go up and down levels to move across the stadium.

Unfortunately, this place will likely be around for another 20 years. But at least Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase make it worth attending games and credit to the fans for creating an electric atmosphere in the playoffs.
